Dreams are aspirations we strive to accomplish. With a limitless imagination, we envision larger-than-life dreams that ignite even the smallest spark of passion that can propel us to our destiny. Dreams don’t just appear in our sleep; they are also ideas that stem from our personal experiences. Certain dreams are manifestations of your passion, and can offer glimpses of the vision God designed just for you. In a sense, our willpower is driven in part by our own unique vision that was given to us by Christ according to His plans for each of us.
As human beings, we are distinctly blessed with vast creativity, knowledge, imagination, and the ability to grow and evolve. God has endowed you with these capabilities, along with your natural gift, as tools that enable you to discover your vision. Sometimes, realizing your dreams is the easy part. Life can be distressing, and reality can threaten to dilute our dreams to mere fantasies. We may even get discouraged from pursuing our dreams if we fall behind on our personal timetable when it comes to reaching certain goals (if you’re frustrated about meeting goals on a strict timeline, focus on measuring your progress instead). It’s important to be mindful that just because your dreams do not come to pass when you want them to doesn’t mean they aren’t meant for you to accomplish.

Ensuring that our dreams are grounded in God’s vision for our life is largely dependent on our relationship with Him. Dedicating time to prayer and reading the Bible can be the difference between discovering our dreams and only doing what is expected of us. Deepening our bond with Christ emboldens us with confidence and the reassurance that we are covered by His grace in every situation. As we take the time to meditate on God’s word and strengthen our relationship with Him through prayer, we draw closer to the clarity we seek for our vision.
The most important decision you can make is to take the first step in following your dreams. Fruitlessness is not what God wants for you. The moment you make the choice to step out on faith and follow God’s plan, He sets in motion an entire path of opportunities to build you up and prosper you, just like He promised in Jeremiah 29:11. When your actions align with His will, God sees your commitment to Him and pours into you. Just as He handpicked a vision for your life and revealed it to you through your dreams, He has an entire roadmap of success for you; why else would your dreams point you in that direction in the first place? But your access to that prosperity is only made possible by your choice to step out in faith. He only needs you to start.
As you invest in your dreams, it is essential to set time aside to hone the necessary skills to achieve them and enhance your gift. Whether it’s developing your business model after work hours or taking night classes for that certification, you have to be intentional about exploring opportunities to excel in whatever it is you’ve been called to do. There will be times when you come face-to-face with challenges and obstacles that may cause you to question if you should pursue your dreams. Alternatively, those challenges can be opportunities that bring you closer to your goals, but come with daunting expectations or intimidating demands. But if He really meant for you to fulfill your vision and reach great heights, then why would He allow you to endure difficulties and setbacks in your pursuit?

Whenever you experience waves of doubt and uncertainty, try taking a broader perspective of your circumstances. For instance, whenever I begin to doubt my ability to take on an onerous endeavor, I immediately remind myself that many people before me have successfully completed the task or have lived through my same struggle, sometimes while dealing with worse conditions than my own. If they could do it, then why shouldn’t I be able to as well? Minimizing your challenges helps to reinforce your confidence about overcoming them and strengthens your faith in knowing that your dream is really meant for you.
Simply put, challenges are meant to mold you. The trials you face today help build up your strength and endurance for tomorrow so that you can manage the greater responsibilities that come with each phase of your journey, bringing you closer to your ultimate vision. (And once you’ve fought for your victories, you know better than to take them for granted.)
Your dreams can expose you to the vision God has created for your life. If you have yet to discover what your vision is, trust that He will give you clarity and reveal His plans for you in due time. If you’ve already realized which of your dreams align with God’s vision, know that He has already prepared the way for you. All you have to do is make the choice to step out on faith. It’ll absolutely be worth it.
